Hybrid Snowboards

For the past week or so in my graphic design class we have been working on a brand identity. We got to choose any company name that we wanted (as long as it had to do with the word cross.) So, I looked on dictionary.com and found like 63 definitions for the word. I ended up with a word that means cross: hybrid, and the company is Hybrid Snowboards.
Basically, a snowboarding company that uses organic wood, glue, and other materials to make the most eco- friendly boards possible (hence the name "hybrid".)

-Here are my logo and some type that I created for the company. The top is a typeface I created to go in magazines and such (to use when the logo and mark aren't needed), and the bottom is my logo and the type that will accompany it sometimes. Let me know what you think.

Whoa!

o.k. so I realize that I haven't written in a while, but I've been busy. So, here's what's been going on.

Graphic design has been great, I've really been pumping out stuff that I like a lot (I'll try to post some things on here.) I've been learning a lot in class, and I've starting to feel like I'll be able to make it in the design world! This class is one of the main reasons that I've been so busy though.

Halo 3- yeah we have it on two xbox 360's at the house and it's a game that is constantly played almost 24/ 7 at the house. It's a lot of fun, and if you haven't played it yet, you should (if you call we might let you play on our system.)

Flag football has been intense, last night we started the playoffs. The first game was against "Lambda Chi", and we dominated 34- 0. This game was a lot of fun.
Then we took on "The Posse" and we played the most intense game of the season, back and forth the whole time. There was like a minute left in the second half and we were down 13- 12. Somehow Joe ended up tipping the ball and Nick intercepted it, giving us one last chance to score and we did. Then Palmore intercepted another pass, GAME OVER.
So, now we play Thursday 10/11 at 9pm and if we win the first game we will play again at 10pm. I'm telling you this because if you're not doing anything, come out and see us play.

-let me know what you think about these.

fall is almost here.

So, only 5 days until it's officially fall, and I can't wait.

Last night we had a double header in flag football. We won both games by a good margin, and I'm hoping the rest of the games go that well. I ended up hurting my ankle during the second game, and I could barely walk today (I had to wear a brace on it all day).

Ok, so I have to write a precis for my Art History class now.

.sorry i haven't written lately.

soccer

Today was ok, I didn't do much.

Tonight was great, I decided to go to the rec. center and play some indoor. When I got to the court there were two guys playing on one end (the badminton nets were set up, and there were a bunch of Indian guys playing). So, I decided to go to the opposite end a just juggle a bit, and kick against the wall. Then, after about ten minutes one of the guys playing soccer comes over and asks if I want to kick some with them. I got over there and one of them had to leave. The guy introduced himself, his name was Davis, and that he had played soccer his whole life. We just started juggling and passing back and forth, shooting every now and then. After a while of that, I passed it to him with my left foot and it ended up behind him. I told him the last few times I had played, I had been working on my left foot work, so it was still a little shaky sometimes. He said that's what practice is for, and asked if I want him to pass me some so that I could shot with my left. I said sure, and I ended up making like 9 out of 10. I felt really good about my left, but then he said, " You just missed 1 out of 10, you're better with your left than your right". So, all in all tonight I really felt good out there on the court.

Sorry you just read all of that, because it was only about soccer.

p.s. I'm thinking about playing intramural soccer this fall. 4v4 outside.

new school year.

So, school started back today, we'll get back to this later on. Last night I got in bed around 12 and I sat on the internet till about 1. It's 1 in the morning I'm laying in bed, it's pitch black and i can't sleep. My mind was going 1,000 thoughts/ hour. I realized that I'm ready to move on to the next stage of my life! I'm ready to be out of school, and start out new (with my special someone).

One of the many thoughts on my mind is my tattoo, that I've been wanting so badly lately (but not quite sure what I want). I decided that I was going to figure out what I wanted. After about 15 minutes of thinking it just hit me. I had it picked out. "Psalm 30:5- weeping may last through the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning". This is a very powerful verse to me because I screw up daily, but I know that with each morning brings a new hope. This is also in a song by one of my favorite groups Cool Hand Luke, and the song is "The Fires of Life". So, let me know what you think.

Okay, so back to the sleep thing. I laid in bed until about 4:30 and finally got to sleep.

My first class was Intermediate Graphic Design at 9 am, and my professor is new at UAB, he just came from LA where he was an "art director" at a design firm. I have a good feeling about this class, and one of the main reasons is Prof. Schiacca. I hope to learn a lot from him.
Then, Art since 1945, with Jessica Dallow at 2 pm. I really think that I'm going to get a lot out of this class, because it's about modern/ contemporary art.

So, the first day went smooth.
